Let's tap into our greatest resource - each other! South Jersey Cultural Alliance is proud to have the talented artist Tyrone “Dancing Wolf” Ellis as our guest speaker for our SJ Artist Conversation happening March 28th at 7 pm.
His presentation will focus on the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape tribe’s battle for recognition, specifically the six years they lost their tribal status under the Christie administration and the impact that had on indigenous artists. His presentation will follow with an indepth Q & A session.
Ty holds the responsibility of being the tribe’s Annual Powwow and Program Coordinator. He is passionate about connecting Native American culture with local communities. As well as educating others to reduce stereotypes and ignorance. As the Recipient of the New Jersey Folk Arts Apprenticeship Grant, Ty has taught the art of Pow-Wow Drums and Water Drums to tribal youth. We are thrilled to have him as our guest speaker!
We welcome you to join in on the conversation by registering online. Please let us know if you have any questions! South Jersey Artist Conversations take place each month. Artist conversations are available to anyone in the field of arts and culture. Each conversation is guided by themes suggested by South Jersey artists! What do you want to talk about?
